What weather!

When we woke up this morning I was sweating. I asked my husband to check the temperature and he said it was 70 degrees. I haven't even gotten my summer clothes out yet.

I baby-sat yesterday. My two and a half year old granddaughter was running a temperature. I had to give her Children's Motrin and she wouldn't let me. It was so frustrating. I was down on my knees begging. I finally was able to get it down her throat. Twenty minutes later it was like nothing happened.

My son called me tonight and said Sid had Scarlet Fever. At first I thought he might be joking but he wasn't. I had to go back into the past to remember what would have been next if my DIL hadn't taken Sidney to the doctor. For me at five years old it went into Rheumatic Fever. My husband was surprised there wasn't a shot for SF. Sidney is contagious until tomorrow. I'm glad I didn't kiss her.

I tried an Entrelac pattern to make a scarf and I ripped it out tonight and started another pattern. I'm having the same problem of the scarf curling. No matter what I finally end up doing I'll have to block the scarf. I've finally had my fill of dishcloths for the time being. I have enough for gifts.

My mother has been in a nursing home for nearly two months and I think she may be coming home soon. That means having to clean up her bedroom and dusting. I prefer knitting or reading. There has to be a home inspection where my husband will pick my mother up at the nursing home, bring her home to see if she can get into the house. If mother makes it into the house then I'm sure her bedroom will be inspected to see if she can get in and out of her bed and the bathroom to see if she can get in and out of the tub. We had handles put in so that shouldn't be a problem. Oh, did I mention mother broke her hip.

I was reading an article in the paper this morning to reminded me of when mother was in the hospital. This woman was saying how she had to find a nursing home for her mother because the social workers were saying that medicare may not pay her bill. This poor woman spent her time looking for a nursing home knowing her mother only had a few weeks to live. She pleaded to have her mother stay in the hospital and was told she couldn't do that. Although, my mother's case was different there was a big rush to get her out of the hospital and a threat of medicare not paying her bill. I called medicare and was told that wasn't true. I then was stubborn enough to say I wouldn't let my mother go to the nursing home recommended by the social workers. It bothers me that hospitals do these things. If you think you're being pushed around you have to check it out yourself. I'm still learning the games people play.

I've vented enough.
