Christmas Crackers

It's an English tradition to open crackers at dinner on Christmas Day. I received a package from my cousin in England on Boxing Day with a box of crackers. My son and family came over that evening and we opened our crackers.

I thought this was an adorable picture of my DIL Irena and my Dear Sidney.

Post Christmas

I picked up my needles today. I have many ideas rolling around in my grey cells. I think I'll make a couple afghans in the coming new year. I want to cut down on my stash.

Sidney liked her new afghan. It's fun to have grandchildren. I'll say mine are spoiled.

Our family enjoys filling stockings. My son-in-law said he loved getting gifts from us. I regifted him with an enema solution while my mother gave him a pair of gloves she got last year from him. I also thought of the new baby coming and gave sil night lights.

My knitting group met this morning. We have been very good so McDonald's has nothing to complain about. It was good to get out and have a good gabfest.

Just Before Christmas

I tried to get a photo of the tree and Sidney but . . . I wanted to take a photo last night of both grandchildren but they were to busy watching "Elf."

I stopped knitting the other day when I completed a pair of hand warmers. I have socks, mittens and scarves to give as gifts. I like to take a few days before Christmas and just take a break from knitting. I have to do the last minute shopping. I was trying to get out today without my mother as I wanted to get her a gift certificate. I didn't want to say where I was going. I had three stops and had my driving plans made. When I got home I took mother to the grocery store. I was exhausted when I finally landed at home with the song "I'll be home for Christmas" playing on the radio.

I still have to go out and buy my hubby a gift. We always seem to put ourselves last. We don't exchange big ticket items but something small to open.

My mother has been trying to finish a couple sweaters. I helped her out with one of the sweaters and then she said she would wrap some of my gifts if I knit on the current sweater. Now I'm being bribed to sew the buttons on the sweater. The deadline is Sunday and I think she'll make it.

Merry Merry!

This is my adorable granddaughter Sidney. She's a cutie. The little S**t told her mom and dad that her Grandma Jay hit her and that she was mad at her Papa (Grandpa Tom). Now I tell you who would you believe?

I'm still working on the socks which I think is going to take for ever. I should find something else to do but I'm not feeling inspired.

Better Mood

Here's the baby surprise sweater I made for my daughter's expected baby. There's a shower this Sunday for Sara. My DIL and I gave Sara a shower last month so I didn't feel I needed to provide a "big" gift. I couldn't find my baby surprise sweater pattern. I was lucky to find some ones notes on making the sweater by doing a google search and I went from there. The yarn is Tiny Tots.

Snow and McDonald's

We had our first blizzard yesterday. The snow is pretty. I should have gotten my camera out but I was to busy trying to figure out how to start two socks on circular needles and reading. I finally got the socks started. I don't know what the problem was. I knit about four rows before I could get the needles right.

McDonald's has always been home to us knitters but right now I'm feeling very frustrated. Our group has been knitting at a certain McDonald's for about four years. We've always felt at home and the owner made us feel that way too. A couple weeks ago in my absense the manager came over to the group to tell them the rules. I was never aware of any rules. We've always left about 11:30 a.m. when the lunch crowd came in. Apparently, this is their rule. A television was added to the McDonald's when it was enlarged last year. The large table we sit at is right under the television. In defense of some the sound can be very loud. The television has been turned off instead of consulting the management. This is a no no. To keep peace I asked to talk to the manager on Thursday and I gave the story I was given and she gave me her side telling me it came from the owners. We will be asked to leave if we don't follow the rules. I was shattered by that. Many of you know why. Now my emotions are very mixed. Something has to be fun and if it's not fun any more what's the next move?

I've been having mixed emotions about a lot of things. Knitting retreats etc.
