Gotta Get a Going!

The above photo is my granddaughter showing off the sweater her GreatGrandma Jay made for her fourth birthday. Sidney opened the package and said it was another sweater. At least she didn't throw it.

Well I've been knitting and reading. I made the towel in the new Mason Dixon book. It's a bit time consuming but will make get gifts for a friend of mine at Christmas. We always have those hard to buy for people. He liked the hanging kitchen towels I made him from the ball band pattern from the first Mason Dixon book.

I've got two scarves on needles but it's been warm and the wool is very hot to work with. It's suppose to be cooler tomorrow.

I enjoyed reading the latest Maggie Sefton book on the porch this afternoon. I used to sit on the porch all the time in the summer until about three years ago when I no longer fit in the lawn chairs. Now I have no problem. I'm holding my own. I'm not gaining and I'm slowly, very slowly loosing weight. I feel a shift in my body. I'm walking and increasing my walk. I was told the other day that I was a hero to a find of mine. What a nice compliment. No gym for me. Just regular exercising and not starving myself.

I have two more Christmas gifts bought so I feel I'm getting there. I know it seems early but the time can creep up on you.

My dear granddaughter was over the other day and remarked on my Halloween bears on top of the bookshelf. She asked if Halloween was coming up soon. She's still deciding what costume she wants to wear. She has time.

Enjoy the weather while you can.

More Georgia

That's me swimming. I was able to get a bit of swimming in with everything else we had going. My mother suggested I take my knitting with me. I finished a pair of socks and made several wash cloths. We spent a lot of time in the car.

My husband finally found a part time job. He's working three hours a day Monday-Friday 3-6 p.m. I've lost my cook. Now I'm forced to make meals. I was happy when I had to baby-sit last Monday and Tuesday so I only had to heat up dinner made by my daughter-in-law.

I'm in one of those ruts where I don't know what I want to knit. I hate that. Do I want to knit on socks, dish cloths, or scarves. The stress is off until my next order. I decided to read a book in-between the rut. I got the new Maggie Sefton book which I started today.

Not much on television tonight. I don't like award shows and there's really nothing new on. The new programs start this week. Yippee!

Georgia, Georgia

Okay, I've copied the email I sent to my Pernell Roberts list. If you didn't know it I'm a big fan of Pernell Roberts since I was about 12 years old. I've been getting together with like minded internet friends for about five years now.

My holiday was fun and tiring. I arrived in West Palm Beach, Florida on Sept. 2. I was met at the airport by Rhona and Helen-Anne. Later we went back to the airport to welcome Maggie and Richenda. From there we went back to Helen-Anne's mobile home she shares with her Daddy. We had a wonderful dinner of Zitti. Maggie, Richenda and I stayed at the Super 8 near the mobile home park. My English friends had their tea at 6 a.m. the next morning.

Sept. 3 we journeyed to Waycross in a rental mini van. My mother suggested I take my knitting and I'm glad I did. We had a nice drive and arrived in Waycross about 6:30ish. We had dinner at the Methodist church that Pernell's parents belonged to. Helen-Anne was treated like a celebrity. LOL

Sept. 4 we made our first pilgrimage to Pernell's parents former home and to the cemetery where Pernell's parents are buried. We stopped at the library so Helen-Anne could meet the new director (I think). We saw the painting of Pernell that Jean Marotz won in a Thanks for Giving auction. Jean had donated the painting to the library. We did a lot of riding around. I think we went to the tourism office and we checked into buying a brick in Pernell's name. Helen-Anne will fill you in on that when she gets back. It was decided to buy a floral arrangement for the grave of Pernell's parents. Some where in there we met up with Jean and Herm and waited for Leona and her husband Steve. They got lost on their way to Waycross. We all had dinner in the Holiday Inn dining room.

Sept. 5 we went to the Okefenokee Swamp and took a boat tour and a train ride. We met up with Alma some time in the afternoon. Alma got in about noon and we didn't get back from the swamp until around 2ish. Some of us went out to dinner and some stayed at the Holiday Inn to eat.

Sept. 6 Elisha joined us for breakfast. We all went to the library to present the Bonanza magazine. A photographer was present and took pictures of us for the Waycross paper. We were all treated very kindly and thanked for our donation. We all had lunch in a Chinese restaurant where Midge and Sandra joined us. After lunch it was on to the Lion's Camp for the Blind children. We were treated to a tour of the camp. We had another pilgrimage. We ate at Shoney's and then went back to the Holiday Inn to chat. We all had rooms in a row. It was Jean's birthday and we had a card for her. Alma and I roomed together that night and we had an adjoining room to Helen-Anne and Rhona.

Sept. 7 Some of the group went to church and some left. We bid Jean, Herm, Leona and Steve goodbye. Sunday afternoon was more touring. We bid Elisha goodbye in the evening as she had an early plane departure in Jacksonville. We later heard that Elisha was stuck in an airport in Florida as Hurricane Ike was hitting Cuba.

Sept. 8 We made one last pilgrimage and set out for St. Simon's Island. We stayed at a Methodist Retreat. We had supper in the hall and then we took a ride around the island looking for Ft. Frederica.

Sept. 9 Although the homes are all gone there were still some landmarks to see when we ventured back to the Fort. From there Maggie and I were dropped off at a knit shop and Richenda was taken to a dentist as she had lost a crown I believe. Richenda was able to get an appointment for later in the afternoon so we had lunch and went back to the retreat to relax. It didn't take long at the dentist and we were able to ride around the island. We found a restaurant to eat at and then Helen-Anne was able to find a place to stop by the ocean. Rhona got herself a sourvier on the beach.

Sept. 10 we were all up early and packed to take me to Jacksonville airport for my flight home. It was sad to say goodbye to my friends. My flights were on-time and I was in Milwaukee and waiting for my daughter to meet me. When I got home I got a big hug from my mother and told the cat missed me too. I have many memories and I know I probably got some things
