I want to know my husband and kids loved me.
Today they showed me how much they cared by throwing me a surprise birthday party. My husband took care of the guest list but did forget a few people. One being my friend of over 45 years. I didn't mind because I know she couldn't have made the trip. She has a lot of health issues.
My husband told me a long time ago that the kids were planning a party and I said why are you telling me this. He said that he knew me and knew I wouldn't let go until I got it out of him. I said fine, don't tell me when and where and I won't ask. I guess you have to be married a long time to know those things about your spouse. I've always wanted to know things and I won't let go until I know. I'm like that person looking for the needle in a haystack and finding it. LOL
It was a very nice party. My daughter got me over to her house by asking me to baby-sit. I don't get to see baby Nora enough so of course I wouldn't refuse. When we got there my son-in-law came out with the baby and asked if I was ready to baby-sit and how much he appreciated my coming over. Then I started to walk into the living room and saw my mother. Then I heard surprise! The kids put on a very nice spread and Tom ordered the cake and had brought it over the day before. The cake had a basket full of yarn and knitting needles sticking out. It was really pretty.
Later when every one had left and the kids were dividing up the food the door bell rang and a friend of mine for nearly 40 years showed up. She said she had had a senior moment and looked at the invitation and realized it was today. She said she just had to come over even if she was late. We had a very nice chat. It was a wonderful day.
I said all I've been doing is trying to use up my cotton yarn when asked what I've been doing with myself. I have a feeling I'm going to get very sick of the cotton yarn and wash cloths soon and be stuck with a lot of cotton yarn. There's a lesson to be had. Don't buy more then you need but we knitters never seem to follow that rule. :-)

Hi, Eileen ... I'm sorry I didn't come to your party today! I got the invitation before I went in for surgery and completely forgot about it! Senior moment, too many things going on, you name it. Anyway, I'm glad you had a nice party. It's good that your mom was able to make it, too. I'll bet she really enjoyed being out of the rehab place for a few hours.
Eileen,
I'm glad you enjoyed your party. Happy Birthday!
